Melchers: A Review of Effectiveness on Quality Management System for Calibration Activity

Calibration is one of the most important elements in the industry nowadays, especially to maintain precision and accuracy of measurement in all industry activities. However, current practice of the industry does not adhere to the best quality management system available. It is crucial to give awareness to industry players on the implementation of quality management system for calibration activity. 

In this session, we will give a brief introduction of ISO 17025 and the definition of calibration. This will include the main purpose of quality management system in calibration which is to maintain the traceability of measurement to SI units, to ensure competency of laboratory personnel and to emphasise on measurement uncertainty reliability. 

This presentation will also indirectly highlight the differences between three quality management systems which comprise of ISO 17025, ISO 9001 and conventional practice.
